Tina Sofia

Award-winning vocalist, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist

Tina Sofia is an award-winning vocalist and songwriter from Israel.
Singing in more than five languages and playing multiple instruments, she gracefully moves between Jazz, Latin, and World music.

Born in Tashkent after the tragic loss of her father — Fausto Abad, a medical student from Ecuador — she was raised by her mother, Lana Sokolov, a choral conductor and vocal coach.
Music became both her refuge and her destiny.

In 2013, Tina graduated with a full scholarship from Berklee College of Music (USA), where she collaborated with some of today’s most inspiring talents, including Grammy Award-winning artists Javier Limón, Victor Wooten, and others.
During her studies, she was invited to perform at the opening of Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain, alongside musicians from Syria and other countries — a moment that symbolized unity through music.

Tina is the winner of the “Massimo Urbani Awards” International Jazz Competition (2005) in Italy.
She recorded an album with legendary jazz pianist Renato Sellani and saxophonist Luigi Grasso, and performed at major festivals such as Umbria Jazz Festival (Orvieto, 2006) and Donna in Jazz Festival (Lucca, Italy).
She also received a special invitation from world-renowned violinist and conductor Vladimir Spivakov to perform at the “Moscow Meets Friends” Gala Concert (2007) in Russia.

Her original music was featured at the Kennedy Center’s “Betty Carter Jazz Ahead 2014” program in Washington D.C., where she represented Israel with her own compositions.
She has performed in Boston and New York, showcasing her debut EP of original songs, and in 2014 released her second EP, “Flower in the Wind.”

Currently based in Israel, Tina is working on her next album, blending her diverse influences and life experiences into a sound that bridges cultures — from Middle Eastern roots to Latin and contemporary original modern music.

Berklee College of Music בשנת 2013 סיימה את לימודיה במכללת

בארצות הברית, במלגה מלאה, ושם שיתפה פעולה עם כמה מהאמנים הבולטים בסצנה העולמית, ביניהם זוכי גראמי חאבייר לימון, ויקטור ווטן
במהלך לימודיה הוזמנה להופיע בטקס פתיחת הקמפוס של ברקלי בוולנסיה, ספרד – לצד מוזיקאים מסוריה וממדינות נוספות – רגע סמלי של חיבור ואחדות דרך המוזיקה

טינה היא זוכת התחרות הבין־לאומית לג׳אז Massimo Urbani Awards (2005) באיטליה.
היא הקליטה אלבום עם הפסנתרן האגדי רנאטו סלני ועם נגן הסקסופון לואיג׳י גראסו, והופיעה בפסטיבלים חשובים כמו Umbria Jazz Festival באורבייטו ו־Donna in Jazz Festival בלוקה, איטליה.
כמו כן קיבלה הזמנה מיוחדת מהכנר והמנצח הנודע ולדימיר ספיבקוב להופיע בקונצרט הגאלה “Moscow Meets Friends” ברוסיה.

שיריה המקוריים נבחרו לפרויקט “Betty Carter Jazz Ahead 2014” במרכז קנדי בוושינגטון די.סי., שם ייצגה את ישראל והופיעה עם יצירותיה.
היא הופיעה בבוסטון ובניו יורק עם מיני-אלבום הבכורה שלה, וב־2014 הוציאה את האי.פי השני שלה “Flower in the Wind”.

כיום היא מתגוררת בישראל, עובדת על אלבומה הבא ויוצרת סגנון ייחודי המשלב את שורשיה המזרח־תיכוניים עם צליל עכשווי ועולמי
